My Beauty Muse of the Moment: Lindsay Hartley

image

With the endless array of gorgeous gals out there who have locks Rapunzel herself would be envious of, a sparkling smile that can light up a room and makeup that appears absolutely flawless, Lindsay Hartley tops my list. Blame it on my recent nostalgia for the good ol’ days when NBC first aired Passions in 1999, but there is something about Miss Hartley that has her coming in at number one this month. (and no, it isn’t because she played opposite Eric Martsolf and got to share all those lip locking scenes that would make any girl writhe in jealousy!)

Down the stairs, you were there, you remember it all
It was rare, I was there, I remember it all too well

My Christmas Dream Wishlist

So many of us have millions of things to be thankful for this holiday season; a loving family, great friends, a roof over our heads and many blessings that are impossible to count on both hands. While I truly could not ask for more in life, there are a few things I could only dream of having at this very moment. So Santa, if you’re reading, please do your very best to bring me these things. I’ve been good all year!

The beauty of this bag is that it is simply classic and chic. I recently purchased the Louis Vuitton Speedy 30 and was so tempted to get this one! It’s safe to say that I have a new love in my life- Louie!

There is nothing more timeless like a cashmere Burberry scarf wrapped around your neck in the frigid winter temperature. Enough said!

For the girl who’s in love with love, this is the perfect shoe for you! Besides the fact that it was created by arguably the finest shoemaker in the world (yes Mr. Louboutin, I’m talking to you!) these shoes speak my one word motto in life. What better way to show off your feet?!

Give me one lady who doesn’t love Chanel. Just one. This is the bag that I am perpetually drooling over. Besides the timeless feel of Chanel, this bag is always “in” and goes with literally anything you own. The steep price tag may deter most but remember who we were dealing with here: Santa. If he can deliver a car to those who ask for it, we’ll expect one of these badboys nestled under our trees come Christmas morning.

Now I’m usually not one for things around my wrist, but I am loving this Hermes cuff. The simplicity of the cuff and the iconic “H” are enough for me to scoop this up. And guess what? It’s the perfect size to fit in my stocking!

Since this is a dream wishlist, I find it appropriate to put one of the most whimsical confections ever concocted by Dior. This vintage gown was from the Fall/Winter 1949-1950 collection and simply put, it is to die for! I just want to have this dress displayed in my wardrobe so I can stare at it all day. Hey…a girl can dream!

Do you have a Christmas wish list with items you could only dream of having?

Hurricane Sandy Update- How You Can Help

So this is going to be an unconventional blog post that I felt compelled to write after weathering out one of the worst, if not thee worst storm in the history of New York City; Hurricane Sandy. I wanted to explain my experience to you because if you did not actually live through it, you have no idea of the devastation it has caused to our area. Now, you may be saying to yourself “Florida has hurricanes all the time, who cares about a hurricane in New York”. Yes…Florida does have hurricanes quite often, however New York City is not used to such violent and catastrophic weather conditions like 80mph winds and unimaginable flooding.

We’ve Got September Issues!

I’d be lying if I said to you that September was my least favorite month. Sure, September signals that the summer is over, but there is something about getting the September issues of your favorite magazines in the mail, filled with priceless fashion and beauty information as well as of the up-to-the-minute trends hot off the runways of New York, Paris and Milan. Whether you’re attending Fashion Week (I am! My very first one!) or enjoying Fashion’s Night Out with your best friends, one common theme runs deep; our passion and fixation with the fashion world. This September, enjoy all that the fashion industry has to offer. Pass by Lincoln Center. Browse the windows on Fifth Avenue. Or hold a fashion show and raise money for a cause you believe in. Any way you choose to recognize the month of September, you’ll be doing it in your own unique way. Now that my friend, is style.

Beach Bag Essentials

Going to the beach can be a bit like prepping for disaster. You want to make sure you don’t overheat, have enough sunblock to prevent you from roasting in the sun and all the ice cold water you’re beach tote can carry so you don’t dehydrate. Here are a few items that should be in your beach bag!

Before you  can start packing, you need a bag! Choose a large tote that is light in texture and easy to wash. You shouldn’t splurge on your beach bag because it can get easily ruined by the elements (sand and water). Instead, opt for an inexpensive nautical bag like Forever 21’s High Seas Tote Bag, $20.80 on Forever21.com.

A large, oversized towel is a must for a long day at the beach. Grab a towel that reflects your own personal style. And if you don’t want to purchase a towel specifically for the beach, just grab one out of your linen closet! I personally like Sonoma Life and Style Shell Beach Towel, $16.99, available at Kohls.com.

A loose coverup can do wonders during a scorcher on the beach. Pack or wear one to the beach if you feel like you are getting too much sun. Victoria’s Secret has tons of cute coverups like the one below, $33.50, VictoriasSecret.com.

You’ve heard it time and time again; the sun damages your skin and can cause cancer. Applying sunblock takes all of three minutes to do so don’t skimp on this important step! Opt for a high SPF like Banana Boat Sport Performance Continuous Spray, $10.49 on Walgreens.com, to steer clear of a bad sunburn.

A super chic pair of shades is a must to protect your eyes. Did you know that you can get melanoma in your eyes? It’s a scary fact but you can protect yourself and look great at the same time by wearing a pair. Urban Outfitters Death By Stud Cat-Eye Sunglasses, $16.00 on UrbanOutfitters.com, will protect your peepers and keep you looking fabulous throughout the summer months!

Big floppy hats are all the rage this season and you’ve got a perfect reason to wear one! It can be difficult to protect your scalp from sunburn so put on a hat to protect your head and tresses! Stop by Forever 21 for a stylish hat that won’t burn a hole in your wallet. The Striped Floppy Hat, $13.80 is affordable and cute!

A good read is almost as important as the bathing suit you’re wearing. I am so excited to get my hands on the newest summer novel On the Island. It’s about a guy and a girl who are stranded on an island and slowly fall in love- a total must read if you were a Lost fan. Out in stores July 10th.

Want to have a little bit of fun on the beach with your friends? Pack a frisbee and have an ultimate frisbee competition! This cheap thrill can run you a mere $2.00 so don’t forget to grab one at your local store!

What do you put in your beach bag? Is there one item that you can’t go to the beach without? Sound off here!
